Folk, Blues and Americana featuring Greg Mayston and Neil Warren is a stripped down two person version of the similarly named foursome playing country, folk and blues songs, new and old, and with love for the traditions behind the songs. Greg was inspired by the iconic acoustic blues performers of the 1920s and 30s and has been playing this music on guitar, banjo and an original National Steel guitar, solo and in bands since the 1970s. Neil Warren is an adept player of the mandolin, a tasteful wizard of the chromatic harmonica and master of the wailing blues harp who has played guitar and harmonica with numerous Berkshire and Oxfordshire groups.
With bandmates, bassist George “Les” Calvert and percussionist Andy Wilkin they last year released “Old Heads On Young Shoulders”, recorded live at Reading’s Global Cafe, featuring blues classics, bluegrass tunes, hits from the 60s and a modern creation or two. The album is available to purchase online from www.tomneill.eu/shop/. Price £10.00plus £1 p&p or download at https://gregmayston.bandcamp. com/releases. Wishing to spread some joy a little further at this precarious time, a donation of £2.50 per album is made to Launchpad, Reading's leading homelessness prevention charity.
