Dovetail Trio

Dovetail Trio

Performing England's traditional songs with a new energy, The Dovetail Trio have been exploring folk narratives with musical skill and a passion for their heritage since forming in 2014. Effortlessly combining the distinctive voices and acclaimed instrumental talents of Jamie Roberts (guitar & vocals), Rosie Hood (vocals), and Matt Quinn (duet concertina and vocals). Since releasing their debut album Wing of Evening in 2015, The Dovetail Trio have toured folk clubs across the UK and Canada and played at leading festivals around the country including Cambridge Folk Festival and Sidmouth Folk Week, as well as performing live on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Radio 3.

Jamie Roberts is a multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter with many years of performance experience.  Working primarily as a guitarist in the British folk scene, he has gained recognition for his innovative and adaptive playing styles through his work with award-winning contemporary folk duo Gilmore & Roberts, traditional English band Kerfuffle, and more recently The Emily Askew Band.

BBC Radio 2 Folk Award nominated Rosie Hood is a folk singer/songwriter from Wiltshire known for her strong, pure voice and captivating performances. Immersed in traditional music most of her life Rosie released her first full-length solo album in June 2017. The Beautiful & The Actual, a collection of old and new folk songs, was described by The Guardian as “poetic class” ****.

Matt Quinn is a singer and instrumentalist who has spent over 10 years performing everywhere from small folk clubs to Glastonbury & WOMAD. Primarily a duet concertina player, he is also in demand for his skills on melodeon, mandolin and fiddle, notably in ceilidh bands Geckoes, The New Slide and The Discussion Topic. As well as being known for his solo performances, Matt has flexed his acting muscles alongside his musical skills in the Mick Ryan folk opera A Day’s Work.

Ticketing

To purchase tickets for this event please click on ‘Register’ below. On the next page you can select ticket types and quantities.

We are offering three ticket types for this event:

- Standard ticket is the ‘normal’ price that we would charge for the event
- Pay a bit more is for those who can afford to, and would like to help support live music and our artists
- Pay a bit less is for those who would find the standard ticket a bit of a stretch, for whatever reason

You can purchase whichever ticket you like; you don’t need to give a reason, and you won’t be asked for any proof of need. For online events you only need to purchase one ticket per household/computer.

We are trialling this ticket system to help make our events more accessible to more people, and to allow those who would happily pay a bit more to do so easily, helping us to subsidise tickets for those who can’t afford them.
