Are you looking to do something more community based?

Is it important for you to be more accessible?

How could you benefit from being linked to our organisation?

Folk Weekend: Oxford is a festival at the heart of the local community; during the third weekend in April every year we infiltrate the city of Oxford with more than 70 separate events, and at least a third of them are free for the public to attend. We work in partnership with charities supporting those who have disabilities and/or special educational needs, aiming to enable more people to access arts events where they previously may not have been able to. Our festival is run entirely by volunteers, and during the course of the event we have over 100 people volunteering for us in some capacity.

We are taking a fallow year in 2019, but are still open to approaches of any organisations who would like information about partnering in the future. During this fallow year we will be continuing our community and SEN focused work.

If you'd like to be a part of this in any way, you will be in good company! Below are our current sponsors, partners, and supporters.

Blackwell's Bookshop

Oxford's iconic bookshop hosts free concerts throughout the festival.

Bodleian Library

The mission of the Bodleian Libraries is to provide an excellent service to support the learning, teaching and research objectives of the University of Oxford; and to develop and maintain access to Oxford's unique collections for the benefit of scholarship and society. We're delighted to be working with them on a community singing project this year.

Botanic Gardens

The Botanic Garden was founded in 1621 with a mission To promote the furtherance of learning and to glorify nature. In the almost 400 years since then, we continue to educate as many people as possible about the importance of plants, to help conserve plants around the world and to support teaching and research at the University and beyond. For the first time in 2018, the Botanic Gardens will be host to Morris Dancers!

Oxford Brookes University

Oxford Brookes University has over 150 years of history. They started out as a small School of Art in borrowed teaching rooms and have grown into one of the UK's top modern universities with a local, national and international reputation for teaching and research excellence. We are delighted to work with Oxford Brookes, providing live events experience for their sound engineering students.

Daily Information

Daily Information has been in continuous publication since 1964. Their printed sheet, a brightly coloured A2 broadsheet, is displayed all around Oxford, and contains advertising about jobs, accommodation, events, services etc., plus as much free information as we can pack in - cinema, theatre, gigs and meetings listings; reviews, cartoons, and much more. We are very grateful to Daily Info for helping us to spread the word about our events.

Gary Gleghorn

Gary is a photographer who has worked with us at Folk Weekend for the past four years.

Jericho Coffee Traders

An Oxfolk ceilidh is a sociable and friendly night out, with live music, dancing, entertainment and a licensed bar. The original meaning of “ceilidh” is party and that’s exactly why people have brought their birthdays, family gatherings and even a hen night to Oxfolk. We have worked with our friends at Oxfolk since the start of Folk Weekend, and we are delighted to have them come onboard and help with the artistic programming of our social dance events.

Oxford Bus Company

Oxford Bus Company has kept the people of Oxford moving for the past 134 years. Our services now span the width and breadth of Oxford and take passengers to London, Heathrow and Gatwick Airports. We're very grateful to Oxford Bus Company for their help in advertising our events.

Oxfordshire Community Foundation

Oxfordshire Community Foundation (OCF) is an independent charity that connects people who care with causes that matter. They inspire local philanthropy, and nurture community-based solutions to key social problems across Oxfordshire. We are delighted to be supported by OCF in our Inclusive Folk work.

One of the world’s leading creative media institutions, SAE builds on a proud tradition of exceptional post-secondary education spanning 54 campuses in 27 countries. Folk Weekend provides live event experience for their students during the festival.

St Aldates Tavern

Perfectly located just a stone’s throw from the high street in the heart of Oxford City Centre, St Aldates Tavern offers a great range of real ales and craft beers, plus an impressive choice of bottled beers, wines and spirits. Freshly cooked, homemade food is served every day. We are very happy to return to the cosy Blue Room for more events in 2018.

Story Museum

People love stories and they're a great way to learn; Folk Weekend are delighted to be back at the Story Museum, this time with Morris dancers in their courtyard!

TAP Social

A social movement; a space where people from all walks of life come together to share skills and talent, exchange ideas and experiences and create new opportunity. Tap is particularly for those people who have had contact with the criminal justice system, helping them to turn their lives around. We're delighted to have help from TAP social providing the bar for our ceilidhs.

Tess' Brilliant Bakes

Tess' Brilliant Bakes is run from a family kitchen in Adderbury, North Oxfordshire. Tess isn't the baker, she's the baker's daughter, but she's definitely an encouraging presence in the kitchen! All of our products are made with the very best ingredients - we only use real butter, good quality flour from FWP Matthews in Milton-under-Wychwood, local free-range eggs and delicious Callebaut Belgian chocolate.

Tirrolds is a professional marketing consultancy based in Wantage, Oxfordshire UK. We are working with small businesses to put their brand into the spotlight.

We are delighted to be returning to the Westgate Library for FW2018, where we will hold free performances in the main and children's libraries, as well as workshops and lectures in their Make Space.

Youth Hostel Association

YHA Oxford is brilliantly located beside Oxford train station, on Botley Road close to the River Thames, and is just a short stroll into the heart of the city. It is a purpose built hostel with 203 beds. We are grateful to YHA Oxford for offering a discount to festival-goers over the weekend.
